GREAT THINGS ARE COMING TO BELLEFONTAINE CEMETERY 
AND ARBORETUM

The Friends of Bellefontaine Cemetery (FOB) is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Friends is the entity that funds Bellefontaine Cemetery and Arboretum's mission to provide philanthropic assistance and substantial world-class history and horticulture programming for local school districts and members of the surrounding communities. With BCA's extensive focus on community outreach, horticulture conservation/preservation, and providing world-class educational programming, these updates and additions will provide much-needed space and additional restrooms for our visitors and families.

Amaranth House and Gatehouse

Built in 1877, this building and gatehouse are undergoing total refurbishment, including all utilities, technology, and a restroom. These spaces will serve as multi-purpose spaces for school groups, community members, families, and BCA staff to host educational programs. The project is underway and on target for completion in the summer of 2025.  

Hawthorn Gatehouse

Built in 1925, this historic gatehouse is receiving total refurbishment. It will serve as a small welcome center, a multi-use educational space, and much-needed accessible public restrooms.  The project is underway and on target for completion in the summer of 2025.  

Hotchkiss Chapel

These trails will provide cultural and economic benefits by serving as educational and recreational hikes for school groups, community members, and BCA staff to host educational programs. The trails will provide programming in Missouri, National and international history, and horticulture and nature education. Additionally, one of the trails will provide an accessible experience.

Trails are underway and on target for completion in the summer of 2025.
